Serbia work visa: Visa D and single-permit guide

A practical overview for candidates from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and other countries seeking legal employment in Serbia.

Start with the employment basis—not the payment

A lawful employment route normally begins with a suitable Serbian job opportunity and an employer willing to proceed with the required employment basis. Paying a platform fee does not create an employment contract and does not replace employer selection.

Candidate profile and role match
Employer review and decision
Employment-based Visa D where applicable
Single residence-and-work permit for longer stays

The process in six practical stages

  1. 1. Profile and vacancy review

The candidate submits accurate experience, qualification and availability information for a suitable role.

  2. 2. Employer selection

The Serbian employer decides whether to interview or select the candidate. Duties, salary, location and contract conditions should be confirmed in writing.

  3. 3. Employment preparation

The employer and candidate prepare the employment basis and any labour-market or National Employment Service steps required for the specific case.

  4. 4. Employment-based Visa D

Where the candidate’s nationality and purpose require it, the employment-based long-stay Visa D route is used through the competent Serbian channel.

  5. 5. Travel after approval

Candidates should avoid non-refundable travel before an official approval. A visa does not remove normal border checks.

  6. 6. Longer residence and work

For a longer stay, the single residence-and-work permit is handled under the current Serbian electronic process and is decided by the competent authority.

Common document categories

The exact checklist depends on nationality, employment basis, job and authority request. Candidates should commonly prepare a valid passport, current photograph, employer or employment documentation, qualification and work-experience evidence, accommodation information and properly translated or certified records when required.

Important: never submit false work history, modified certificates or inconsistent personal information. Document credibility can affect both employer trust and official decisions.
